I would like to express in my name and that of Tiro en Braille’s enthusiastic staff our best wishes for the nascent year, 2025. We truly hope that 2025 brings health and wellness to all our readers in Mexico and abroad.
What a pleasant surprise was for Tiro en Braille to be contacted by BBC World services at the beginning of December 2024. To just think that what started as a sheer class-project back in the Fall of 2019 would evolve into an inclusive sports activity that could draw the attention of the oldest and largest local and global broadcaster, i.e., the British Broadcasting Corporation (BCC), established over a century ago, literally speaking, “means the world to us”.
For us at Tiro en Braille, with our 100% student-based staff it is a tremendous motivation not only to continue our works, but sets the responsibility to enhance Tiro en Braille with ever-increasing innovation and with the aim of refining our project, always making decisions based on sound evidence and with the valuable feedback from all our past and present participants from Universidad de Guanajuato (UG), Benemérita y Centenaria Escuela Normal Oficial de Guanajuato (BCENOG), and Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN) 111, as well as with the input from future partner institutions.
On the domestic partnerships, we would like to thank Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) for their support (water bottles and jerseys for all 2024 participants), as well as for the undisputed visibility that UNESCO-Mexico gave to our 2024 project during the April 6th celebrations of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
The section on Tiro en Braille aired on January 4th, 2025 by BBC World in Sports Hour is contained in the program titled “Checkmate with Victor Wembanyama”. Tiro en Braille’s appearance starts at minute 17:58 and last for about 5 minutes.
We will be happy as a staff to read your comments and recommendations, as truly, our coproduction approach is the non-official signature of our philosophy.
